Zuid-Holland, the Netherlands
In the last week of April the first SPECTER installations were installed in Katwijk aan Zee, Alphen aan de Rijn and Waddinxveen. The SheetPile Eco-Territorial Reinforcements are developed to restore nature by bringing back the wildernis in the artificial world. The multi-layered hanging cases for aquatic plants were installed in three different locations to find out how the ecosystems will develop in the coming summer. It is important to learn how the (carefully selected) native aquatic plants that have been placed in the cases will behave in the areas with different environmental factors. The research results will also show us the various types of juvenile fish species that are attracted by the ecosystem to find food, shelter and a safe space to reproduce.
We want to thank the Provincie Zuid-Holland, Peter Philipsen from Nature at Work and the ecologists from the regional water authorities that we have been collaborating with for the realization of this project. We can't wait to put our underwater drone to work for the monitoring!
